Each race has a set of units with similar costs, but abilities that vary slightly by race. The basic abilities of most units are the ability to move and cause damage.
Infantry units are the lowest cost and are vital to capturing bases. They are best in forest and mountain tiles.

Units best on regular or sand tiles. Can not move through mountain tiles.
Some units can fly, meaning that they can move over any type of terrain. They cannot, however, end a turn above another unit, friendly or otherwise. Their mobility cost is the same for all tiles.
These units can only travel on water or naval bases. These can only be built from a naval base.
